Telecom's JS usage seems to have disappeared and been replace with
some weird online Bill system. I wanted to see if Maxnet had convinced
Telecom to change my plan before the period change over.

Is there anyway simple way now of checking this? Or am I going to have
to wait in a phone queue?

The Xtra Jetstream Usage Meter is still working. Is the Telecom one
different? I logged into my Telecom account and got to the same meter
via a slightly different route. It appears to be working.

Do they have a problem with non-Xtra customers?

Typical. They are just plain incapable of separating their businesses out.

No doubt, that'll have to be pried from Telecom's cold stiff fingers.
Figuratively speaking.

Just look at the anti-competitive mess they made with UBS. 2Mb plans
only for Xtra, anyone?

Anyway...

The "old" Jetstream usage page has always been available at:

https://jetstream-usage.telecom.co.nz/csc/

As far as I know this URL hasn't changed in the last 7 years. What has
changed is that Telecom no longer link directly to it, but via a redirect
from their new pages.

Also you can access the Xtra usage meter, the "Your Telecom" usage
meter, and the old xtra usage meter at http://telecom.co.nz/usage

Actually last we heard, they were SUPPOSED to be rolling out 1 mbit UBS next month. (Originally it was said 512 March, 1 mbit May, 2 mbit later but I believed this changed to 1 mbit March, 2 mbit May). Although we will still be stuck with 128k (not even 192k) upload...

I'm not holding my breath, considering there still hasn't been an official announcement by the wholesale division and there's only about 2 weeks left.

Actually a quick Google came up with this article which I've never read before. Evidently Ihug withdrew their application to the CC with an agreement

From that, it sounds as if 2 mbit should be coming out in March. Still not holding my breath but if Ihug withdrew their application based on agreements with Telecom, there may be hope yet. What's interesting to me is there is great mention of how the regulations specificy UBS should be not more then 128k. The CC should be shot for making this recommendation and then allowing it into law but what has not been mentioned is CC and the gov is not going (or surely they won't unless they're very stupid) to after Telecom if they offer 2 forms of UBS, one with 2mbit and 128k and one with 2mbit and 512k. Heck, they don't even have to call it UBS, just call it NDT (non-bundled data transfer) or some such. Of course, if Telecom did offer NDT, they would undoutedly charge 4x the UBS price for it so not one would use it but the points remains there is nothing really stopping Telecom offering higher
upstream, just that they have a good excuse not to so they won't.
